About Victor Oh

Victor Oh, Founding Chairman of Canada-China Business Communication Council (CCBCC), is a renowned businessman and community activist. He is the President of Wyford Holdings, a property development and management business.

Since immigrating to Canada from Singapore 30 years ago, Oh has made Mississauga his home. Intent on giving back to the community, Oh has helped many newcomers start their own businesses and establish themselves over the past decade.

During Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's first official "icebreaking" visit to China in 2009, Oh's extensive business expertise and connections rendered him a valued and special member of the Canadian delegation, providing insight into bilateral trade and economic development opportunities, and fostering relationship building between Harper and the high-level officials of the Chinese government.

Oh is active beyond the business front. Social service organizations such as Trillium Health Centre and Family Services of Peel have benefited from his volunteering services. He hosts welcoming receptions for new citizens. He also initiated collaborative community projects, including the 2005 Community Crime Awareness Day in Mississauga, attended by 10,000 people. He is the current Chair of the Safe City Mississauga Board. A vocal community leader with good relations with politicians at all levels of government, Oh has been instrumental in improving the community and its integration of newcomers. Oh's contribution to the community has been widely recognized. The Peel Regional Police Services Board presented him with the Robert Boyne Memorial Award in 2007. The Government of Canada awarded him the prestigious Citation for Citizenship in 2008. In 2010, Oh became the first Chinese honouree for Community Living Mississauga Foundation's Tribute Dinner in its 26-year history. Most recently, he was voted one of the 2011 Top 25 Canadian Immigrants, a national people's choice award presented by the Canadian Immigrant magazine to celebrate inspiring stories and remarkable achievements of Canadian immigrants.
